Powerful and ambient, 'You Prefer Not To' is a hybrid electron of mind-blowing and nostalgic techno, strongly 90s influenced. This EP marks HRN’s return after two years of studio experimentation.
A1. 99 Cops: strong and ubiquitous 808 rhythmic, distortion and R&S style pads.
A2. You Prefer Not To: eponym track, it is an ode to analog filters and rave parties. Powerful kick drum, old school House melody. The track is gradually heading toward a captivating atmosphere, as a long night of festival where the bass resonates from afar and the love progress into you.
B1. Ghosts: bass and melodic elements wrap around themselves behind a repetitive clubby lead. But the rhythmic in the background reminds that this tracks is not only made for dancefloors. The ghostly voice following the progression adds a military angle to Ghosts.
B2. The Unknown Victoria: an ambient techno track, in line with the 90s releases from Warp, Aphex Twin included. Melodies are stretching up and suggest a long complaint.
B3. The Unknown Victoria (Alternate Low Mix): this Alternate Low Mix is a slower version of the last track. More bewitching, more mind-blowing, more Boards of Canada.
